History
The Bern Conglomerate was founded by the merchant genius, Rupert Bern. After a mere 5 years of caravan based salesmanship, Bern managed to accumulate a small fortune. The sum was enough to keep a village running for decades, or to feed a small city state for months.
Instead of living off of his investment stipends and retiring at the age of 26, the young and reckless Rupert Bern liquidated all of his assets in order to buy 20 caravans of superior quality.
After finding skilled craftsman from the whole world, he set off to peddle their wares, getting a great percentage in exchange for increasing the smiths’ patronage.
His investment into the elite caravan was paid off in only a season, with Bern’s Profits growing exponentially.
After the caravan empire grew to a certain unmanageable point, Berns began making deals with other merchants he met, finding that their combined efforts could increase profits beyond even his own abilities. Thus the Conglomerate was born.
After making his final fortune (which is rumored to be enough to buy a country) Bern retired, leaving the Conglomerate’s management up to his most trusted associates.
